This can be evident in our language, as people refer to certain groups as "the creatives" or "the innovators," implying that others are not. If a group has a mindset that they are not innovative, it is essential to shift the conversation toward innovativeness being a skill. Skills can be developed and mastered with the right training, tools, and practice. First, introduce innovation techniques that leverage processes and procedures. Competitive intelligence reviews and product feature recombination might be a good starting point. As the team's confidence grows, introduce more insight-dependent methods.
