I am not manager anymore but I had a zero tolerance to this. I did not give out assignments that is “ASAP” or “Due Tomorrow”. People get numb to them phrases. You give assignments that is achievable. My staff knew, as long as the work/assignments are completed, I am very relaxed. They can show up late, leave early, take a day off, etc. But if I ever say, “This needs to be done by Friday”…. It better be done. My conversations usually go like this…. If you cannot get the assignment done on time, it hurts the client. It hurts my financials. It hurts our growth. It hurts everyone’s pay incentives. If you’re not helping me, then you are hurting me. I do not need people working for me that hurts me. Usually works.
