Uncertainty comes, only when there is no clarity in communication. People are generally scared of the unknown. Once we shift the unknown to the known zone even if they are getting laid off, they are ready for it. Although, people say they like surprises, we don't like surprises when we aren't expecting it. Yes the irony.

Change and uncertainty can be incredibly destabilising for a team so it's important that communication is open and honest, with regular updates. The team needs to be made aware of reasons behind all the changes and uncertainty to avoid unhelpful speculation. Above all, try to stay positive, keep communication channels open and ensure (as much as possible) that the team is kept updated about what the future is likely to look like, after things settle down.

Change can be unsettling, sparking fear. We're drawn to certainty, so it's normal to fear what change means and its potential negative impact. To address these fears, leaders must do 3 things: 1. Openly acknowledge that change is unsettling and fear is expected. This validates feelings and creates a safe space. 2. Share information openly and honestly to alleviate fears. Information empowers people to understand and make informed decisions. 3. Encourage resilience and adaptability. Emphasize how change can be an opportunity for growth and development and help to create paths for that growth. Addressing underlying fears and fostering a positive mindset can help teams navigate change successfully while maintaining motivation and engagement.
