What regulatory body defines the requirements for the product? Highly regulated industries (medical devices, military, aerospace) all have very explicitly defined quality control procedures. That becomes your primary source of QC definitions.

Clarify the shared goal of maintaining high-quality standards and evaluate each procedure based on evidence and best practices. Aim for a compromise or a combined solution that incorporates the best elements of each suggestion, ensuring the final decision aligns with the team's objectives.

Two things to be noted, one is back and white (no ambiguity) I.e it’s acceptable or not acceptable to contractual obligations and international code and standards I.e these are clear requirements and no second thought or bargains. Next is grey area or where ambiguity exists or may be good recommended engineering practice and not necessarily a requirement. Here comes the role of quality leader to negotiate, convince and strike a balance and bring in all parties to table to iron out the differences and conclude (don’t drag or keep it open).
