One of the ways to keep the situation in control is to set small goals and praise the crew of those achievements. Securing loose items on deck, Informing crew to close all doors and praising them to have carried out properly and safely will motivate them and give a sense of safety. Establishing next course of action by using the checklists will enable all crew to know what is expected of them.
