Hold a private conversation to discuss the observed behavior and its impact on the team while listening to their perspective to understand any underlying issues. Set clear expectations for professional conduct moving forward and outline the consequences of continued disruption. Document the behavior and your conversations for accountability, and provide support or resources, such as coaching or training. Follow up regularly to monitor progress and reinforce positive changes, emphasizing teamwork and collaboration to maintain a healthy team culture. If necessary, involve HR and be prepared to take further action, including a formal performance improvement plan or reassignment, to protect team morale and productivity. #ahmedalaali11

When a team member is causing disruption, I address it directly and firmly. I have a private conversation where I lay out specific examples of their behavior and how it’s impacting the team. I’m clear that while everyone faces challenges, disrupting the flow isn’t acceptable. I set clear expectations for improvement and let them know this isn’t optional it’s about maintaining respect and focus in the team. I also offer support if there’s something deeper going on, but I make it clear that the behavior must change. I’m tough but fair because it’s about protecting the whole team’s performance.

Instead of confrontation, opt for a private one-on-one meeting. Express concerns calmly and constructively, focusing on the impact of their behavior on team dynamics and productivity. Offer support and guidance to help them understand the expected standards of conduct and find ways to improve their behavior.
