When unexpected changes disrupt my research schedule, I’d adjust my teaching plans by prioritizing essential topics, streamlining content delivery, and incorporating flexible teaching methods like blended learning or flipped classrooms. I’d also delegate tasks where possible and maintain open communication with students about any adjustments, ensuring their learning experience remains uninterrupted while balancing both responsibilities effectively.

Always have a plan B with you so that it's easier for you to deal with such emergency and unexpected situations. This will not only help you to deal with the situation but will also make sure that your on going course of work is not hampered in any way

Try to design several different types of learning activities for a course, even if you don't use all of them. That way, when something inevitably disrupts your plans, you can consider alternative activities that may require less preparation on your part (without sacrificing learning objectives). For example, if you are running short of time to prepare slides for a portion of your class, consider what other activities could still further students' engagement with the topic. Perhaps you can prep 1-2 slides to introduce the topic and then have students engage with it actively via discussion, role play, generating questions, or even doing some research in class to generate discussion.
