Remember Kite rises higher against the wind! 1) Staying professional and polite would be my first measure irrespective of whatever feedback has been passed. Maintain a respectful tone, regardless of the nature of the feedback. This not only defuses tension but also showcases our ability to handle tough situations maturely. 2) Talk with artifacts and numbers so that your points are appearing full of facts. 3) Many times refrain from answering each and every conversation because it may lead to more issues. 4) Make a note of the feedback and work on improving those.

I would reach out to the person for a private conversation so i can get a full understanding. I would give a full refund if the client were fairly disappointed in our work together. If the valid feedback has been posted publicly, i would repost the feedback with the following. “I am sharing feedback from a client. At first read you may see it as negative. I see it otherwise. I suggest to clients unwanted outcomes ought to be seen as “less thans” and lessons for change and growth. This client says our work together was less than they were seeking. i accepted their position and refunded their full investment. I then shared their feedback with trusted colleagues and asked for input on where i might improve my coaching”

I would first take a moment to review the feedback to understand the specific points raised, which helps me assess whether the critique is constructive or a misunderstanding. I would respond professionally and promptly by acknowledging the feedback publicly, thanking the client for sharing their experience, and, if appropriate, offering a genuine apology while clarifying any points that may have been misinterpreted. I would invite the client to continue the conversation privately, allowing us to address issues without unnecessary public exposure. Finally, I would reflect on any valid points raised in the feedback and consider adjustments to my approach, as addressing criticism with openness can strengthen my reputation and enhance trust.

Facing negative feedback online was tough at first—I remember feeling defensive and hurt, especially when I'd put so much heart into my coaching. But I learned to pause, take a deep breath, and give myself space before reacting. Now, I try to approach it with curiosity. Sometimes, there's a nugget of truth in the criticism that helps me see my blind spots. Other times, I realize the feedback reflects the other person's viewpoint, not the whole picture of my work. I’ve also learned that responding with grace, or even not responding at all, can be the best choice. Ultimately, staying connected to my purpose—to genuinely help others grow—keeps me grounded and reminds me that growth, even in the face of criticism, is part of the journey.

Handling negative feedback is essential to building trust and improving as a career coach. I would approach each comment openly, listening to understand any concerns fully. Responding professionally, I’d address the issue constructively, offering clarification or solutions where needed. Learning from criticism, I’d use it to enhance my services and communication. By remaining respectful and positive, I can turn criticism into an opportunity to grow and reinforce my credibility.
