With pro activeness + clear communication, it shall improve in continuous manner. Few tips: - Be proactive to identify the issue for missing updates, could be process/tech/skills/Incomplete asks. Either fix these issues or set expectations keeping these in mind. - Set clear expectations on not only dates also on deliverables. Document these in PM tools. -Syncup with that member, frequency may very tasks to task/ member to member, for complex workflow it may require start & end of day syncup at beginning of tasks and no so frequent at the end, For other type of work daily/weekly syncup is good enough. - Start doing assessment towards the end of tasks and give on track/ off track feedback, so he/she can be cautious about the commitment.

KPI - Key Performance Indicators. For any work in nature, there is a metric that has to be followed, that's where KPI comes into the picture. If the KPI is being followed by the particular employee or teammate, the results of the process will be seen in days ahead. And while the KPI is in the picture, you should definitely stay side with taking on regular updates to understand and make them understand that you're on their side to guide and help them out in bringing out their best. If the person doesn't follow the metrics, then it is relevant that they are not working at the right pace that brings out the conclusion to be replaced.

To ensure a remote team member stays on track, start by clearly setting expectations for deadlines and deliverables. Regular check-ins, like daily stand-ups or weekly meetings, can help monitor progress and address any concerns early. Break larger tasks into smaller, manageable milestones with specific deadlines to provide structure and regular feedback. Use familiar technology tools like Microsoft Teams, Slack, etc. to maintain visibility on tasks, making it easier for everyone to stay aligned. Also offer support if they’re struggling, ensuring they have the resources needed to succeed.

If a remote team member is missing updates and deadlines, clear communication and structured processes are essential to getting them back on track. Start by identifying any barriers they might be facing, such as unclear expectations or time management issues. Implement regular check-ins, set specific milestones, and use project management tools to improve transparency and accountability. Providing support, such as time zone adjustments or additional resources, can also help. By offering guidance and setting clear expectations, you can ensure they stay aligned with team goals and deliver on time.
-
To ensure a remote team member stays on track, shift the focus from deadlines to ownership. Empower them to take full responsibility for their work by asking them to define their own deadlines, priorities, and update frequency. This fosters accountability and can motivate them to stay engaged, as they’re more invested in their own commitments.
