In such a case, one should interact openly with the client to fully understand their new goals and priorities. Then a realistic plan should be offered for adjustments keeping the client informed at all times to ensure trust and reliability. At all stages, one should show openness to feedback to align with their vision.

Two words: Paper Trail. It is vital to document what the client requests are from the start, and to keep an updated trail as those specifications evolve. We send a follow up email to the client with bullet points from each review. I document visually with screenshots of the on-screen hen scratch from our GoTo reviews. I then use those screenshots as the first few pages of the next PowerPoint. We each keep notes in a bound notebook, sort of a daily journal, with everything dated. We have used the email trail as evidence with difficult clients. This is no joke. We update the client when changes are going to affect the end date. In an email.
