“Plans are nothing; planning is everything.” – Dwight D. Eisenhower. Even the best-laid plans can face unexpected changes. To avoid last-minute disruptions, build flexibility into your project schedule. Implement a buffer for critical tasks and embrace adaptive project management techniques like Agile, which prioritizes iterative progress and adaptability. Regular check-ins ensure teams are aligned, and potential risks are identified early. Empower your team to make quick decisions when needed. Tools like Gantt charts and Kanban boards can visualize progress and help identify bottlenecks before they become issues. Stay agile and keep communication flowing via Plan-Do-Check-Act review meetings!

Any experienced project manager knows that there are aspects that planning does not cover, and therefore can disrupt the schedule, require more resources, etc. It is possible to significantly reduce this possibility by following good practices, defining scope, resources, communication plan, stakeholder management, etc. However, regarding external aspects, the recommendation is to frequently monitor and reassess the scenario if something unplanned occurs, realigning schedule, resources, deliveries, etc.
