A thorough analysis of the affected system is of the utmost importance. Some crucial steps to prevent further disruptions include installation of protective devices like Surge Arresters at suitable locations, upgradation of CBs and fuses , implementation of Smart Grid technologies, fault detection, isolation and restoration(FDIR ) and advanced protection scheme ( e g , differential protection) , system monitoring and control , upgradation of system infrastructure in terms of improving efficiency, safety, security and reliability.Proper training and plans need to be followed appropriately and Electronic sensors of high efficiency need to be included in the control system to protect the system from future disruptions is also very important.

I would investigate the underlying reasons of previous surges and add surge protection devices at strategic locations to stop unplanned power surges from disrupting future operations in an optimized distribution system. It is imperative to upgrade infrastructure elements such as circuit breakers and transformers. Further enhancing system resilience will be the implementation of smart grid technology for real-time monitoring, regular maintenance protocols, and staff training on surge management.
