By staying adaptable, you can turn a tech glitch into an opportunity for creative learning.

Glitches can happen when learning is happening in whatever format. For example, worksheets may not be available, worksheets may have the answers accidentally printed on them etc. Therefore, dealing with mishaps is just like how you should react to any glitches in the classroom..... calmly and happily to divert to a long enough filler activity. It′s also important to encourage students to see the value in things going "wrong" in the classroom, especially when you are experimenting with new technology in the classroom. I may something like "this hasn′t quite gone to plan, it′s because I′m trying to do a new activity with you which has the risk of not going quite to plan"

Tech glitches can be frustrating for everyone, but I've found that maintaining student engagement is all about flexibility and quick thinking. It’s also helpful to communicate openly with students about the issue, and it's a good idea to have a known plan in place if the main communication fails, such as a backup chat method or class page if a video call goes down. One of the activities I like to keep in my back pocket is having students do a 123 reflection. Students write down 1 thing they learned, 2 things they found interesting, and 3 questions they have. This encourages critical thinking and allows students to process the material. You can also launch off this to explore deeper and address misconceptions as needed.
