Your network is slowing down due to security protocols. How do you find the right balance?
When security protocols are bogging down your network, it's essential to strike the right balance to maintain both safety and speed. Here are some strategies to help you achieve this:
- Optimize firewall settings: Adjust rules and policies to reduce unnecessary checks that slow down traffic.
- Use Quality of Service (QoS): Prioritize critical applications to ensure they get the necessary bandwidth.
- Regularly update hardware: Invest in modern, efficient devices that handle security protocols without compromising speed.
What strategies have you found effective in balancing network security and performance?

Security and speed don’t have to be a trade-off, they can work hand in hand. Beyond optimizing firewall rules and upgrading hardware, consider network segmentation to isolate critical systems, reducing congestion. DNS filtering can block threats before they even hit your network, cutting down on unnecessary security scans. And don't forget caching solutions, storing frequently accessed data locally can significantly ease bandwidth strain.

When security slows the network down, leaders need to be aware that this can also slow worker productivity down. More platforms, additional username and password verification security. This adds up and results in a slower worker productivity and a down day. Solutons include consolidating platforms and minimizing security protocols while still protecting data.

I think if this happen one can use VPN oh thats the shortcut and obviously wont recommends that. But yes if someone/ some country facing that issue this can be taken to the higher authorities as the internet become the source of income to many. Also this can lowers the productivity of the others staff as well

“Finding the right balance between security and performance in networks is an ongoing challenge. Some solutions include optimizing firewall settings, using smart intrusion detection systems, and efficiently filtering traffic without compromising speed. Regularly updating hardware and software also helps enhance performance while maintaining security.â€
