Here’s how I handled a sudden venue change by being adaptable, resilient & solution oriented: ?Situation/s: Holiday concert was in full pre-production mode. Waterfront venue tied to holiday theme abruptly ceased all events. 1 act dropped out minutes after being informed. ?Tasks: Secure new venue. Keep remaining stakeholders on board. Replace that opening act. ?Actions: Addressed all concerns. Reached out to my network & secured new venue. Had contingency plan including acts on standby—contacted my choice band on the list & they were a ‘Go.’ Enacted ‘Plan B’ with my team. Had ideas to compensate for lack of waterfront feature and got approval from venue to run with them. Kept all in the loop. ?Result: Success!

Then, I quickly mobilize my team and communicate the change clearly and efficiently, ensuring that everyone involved is informed. It’s crucial to always have backup options ready. Furthermore, I firmly believe that challenges should be seen as opportunities: an unexpected change can open the door to new possibilities.

In such a situation I would immediately think about the client first. -The priority is to make sure that the client is on board with the venue change.( I'm assuming since it's sudden change then it would be based on weather or some other valid concern). Communicate with the client as to what led to the change very briefly and take their go ahead. -Post that is when you quickly speak with all your vendors and attendees and make sure to double check that they got the memo on the venue change. - I would visit the new venue with my team and assess the space and plan logistics like seating, staging, and sound setup. Make sure they are aware of any new access points or setup requirements.
