Being ignored during the recruitment process is definitely a red flag. It is important to objectively evaluate whether this truly was your dream role. Many times we build up a fantasy in our minds about what it is like to work for certain companies or in certain jobs. If they are ignoring you, does this align with your values? If not, letting go will be easier knowing that it was not a fit for you either. Why follow up for a company that does not align to your values?

If your dream job seems to slip away, start by sending a polite follow-up email. Show your strong interest in the role and remind them of your key skills that match their needs. Mention any recent achievements since your last contact. Be patient and respectful, but don’t give up. Try to connect with current employees or professionals who can recommend you. If you still don’t hear back, stay positive and keep the relationship open for future opportunities. By being persistent and professional, you can make a strong impression.

Absolutely understand how frustrating that can be! I remember waiting weeks for a dream job response and feeling stuck. Here’s how I turned things around: Send a Thoughtful Follow-Up: I reached out with a friendly email, expressing my continued interest and highlighting how my skills align with their needs. Connect on LinkedIn: I connected with current employees to learn more about the company culture and gain insights that I could mention in future interactions. Showcase New Achievements: I updated my portfolio and shared recent projects to demonstrate my ongoing growth and commitment. Stay Persistent and Positive: Keeping a positive attitude and regularly checking in showed my dedication.

To bring attention back to your dream job after it's been neglected, send follow-up emails and follow up on your passion. Highlight relevant skills and recent achievements that strengthen your credentials and provide additional information to support your application. It shows passion and perseverance and helps you stand out.

I guide my clients away from chasing a "dream job" and focus instead on the kind of life they want to design. We determine how much time, effort, and energy they’re willing to invest, then prioritize finding work that supports that lifestyle. If an opportunity slips away, they don’t chase it - we reset. I suggest sending a follow-up with new insights or value to offer the employer. It's important to remember this: “Dreams become thoughts, thoughts become ideas, ideas become actions, and actions lead to outcomes.” Staying proactive and engaged is how to turn those opportunities back into reality. Onward!
