From personal experience, one other huge one, transparency (it flows along some of my other thoughts). QA attempts that in things like our test plans, to show how long it will take, risks, etc, but that may not be transparent enough. Why we are doing things, our thoughts, are important as well, so they don't think like QA is working in a vacuum. Before writing the formal test plan, figure out what you think the new feature and regression and other testing is, and informally run it by a couple of the senior dev people, 'run it up the flagpole'. This way they aren't sand bagged when QA says "we need X weeks" to test this.They will ask why, you can show what went into it way earlier. They can give informal feedback, long before Test Plan.
