Know your audience, build strong visuals, simplify the summary and, most importantly, don't get lost in the data. As an example, I once presented to a team who I was told understood market research but I quickly realized they didn't. Since I was prepared with summaries and videos, I shifted to videos first, followed by the summaries and an open discussion which resulted in a successful collaborate brainstorm session.

The client has hired you as the expert. As experts, we must select and present the relevant data. This means intimately getting to know your client's research objectives. While a client's 'research objective' documents can help illuminate what they're looking for, a conversation with the key stakeholders is often much more valuable. Many times, I've had an initial consultation with the client as we come out of the field, and that conversation can be a gold mine for finding out exactly what they need to get out of the research to present it to their company with confidence. They know what cynics will say and what evidence you'll need to get those people on board with your findings.

Simple: Focus on the one metric that really matters for your project. Don't let little side stories detract you from your goal unless they explain or highlight a problem. There are always negative reactions to all ideas. Don't worry about these as long as you deliver on your key objective. The rest is just noise! It's a good idea to agree upfront what the required result/outcome is, and the rest is straightforward (at least most of the time!).

I simplify data so that intelligent decisions may be made. Visual summaries help to swiftly clarify important concepts by highlighting them. I stay focused on what's essential using simple dashboards. Make decisions that connect with their audience by utilizing clear and understandable insights.
