Your clients doubt the value of career workshops. How can you convince them of its effectiveness?

As a coach, counselor, and mentor, I firmly believe in the immense value that career workshops offer in developing practical skills that are directly applicable to one's professional life. These workshops are instrumental in providing hands-on experience in critical areas such as resume writing, interview techniques, and other essential job market skills. The real-world exercises and simulations included in these workshops prepare individuals to handle actual career scenarios with confidence and poise. Emphasizing the practical nature of these skills is crucial, as it helps participants understand their direct impact and potential for achieving real, tangible results in their careers.

At the end of a workshop, one approach I've had great feedback on was asking attendees (in pairs or groups of 3) to share their goals from the workshop and set a calendar reminder for one month later and exchange contact info to follow up with each other on progress/barriers since the workshop to help each other and hold each other accountable. While I can't be sure folks actually did the follow up, it did make for a less awkward way to get everyone adding each other on LinkedIn or swapping email addresses.

Whatever it is, start with predetermined goals in hand BEFORE you get there, and don't leave until you meet those goals. You'll get so much more out of these events - even if it's not one of the better ones.
