(已编辑)Mindfulness is not necessarily sitting quiet with eyes closed. That doesn’t work for all. For some it could be going on a hike, swimming, gardening, dancing, petting their dog, playing with their kids- anything that engages the senses and keeps you in the present moment. People are usually more open to trying practices that feel natural to them.

The client need not to practice mindfulness techniques to have presence of mind and focus. It’s just one tool. It’s not the coach’s duty to teach clients mindfulness. Explore deeply and find the appropriate technique for each client.

When a client resists mindfulness, I focus on reframing it in a way that resonates with them. I explain that mindfulness isn't just about sitting in silence; it's about building awareness to make clearer, more intentional decisions. It’s not about adding more to their plate, but removing the noise. I guide them to start small, like taking a deep breath before responding in difficult conversations. This simple practice shifts the focus from resistance to action, helping them realize they’re in control of their decisions and the energy they bring to the table. The goal is to make it feel practical, not overwhelming.
