You have great ideas that could benefit your team, your project, or your company. But your boss is not a good listener. He or she interrupts you, ignores you, or dismisses you. How can you get your ideas across without losing your confidence, your respect, or your job? Here are some tips to help you communicate effectively with a boss who doesn't listen.
Different bosses have different communication preferences and styles. Some may be more visual, some may be more verbal, some may be more analytical, some may be more emotional. The first step to getting your ideas across is to know your boss's style and adapt to it. For example, if your boss is a visual learner, use graphs, charts, or images to illustrate your points. If your boss is a verbal learner, use stories, anecdotes, or examples to convey your message. If your boss is analytical, use data, facts, or logic to support your ideas. If your boss is emotional, use empathy, emotion, or values to connect with your boss.
Find someone he listens to, and communicate to him through that person. Secondly, you can write to him and send your email or writing to your boss, first thing in the morning. Finally, I suggest that what ever information you want to share with your boss, you should have done enough research, have your facts checked and come with proof. So, that when you finally get his attention, you can be as concise as possible while going straight to the point.
The first step is to it is break that belief in your heart that your Boss is not a Good Listener. Many time we create a perception that is very different that the actual picture, So approach him with a perception that he will surely going to listen to you. 2) Don't approach your boss with just a raw idea atleast do some research so that you are answerable to the questions he is putting in front of you. 3) Try to be concise and crisp while sharing your idea first. 4) Try using the concepts/example/scenarios with which your boss is able to relate or he is most concerned about. 5) Set your intention before going for the meeting or sharing an idea like you should be very clear what you want to Communicate

The more prepared and confident you are, the more likely your boss will pay attention and listen to you.
Prepping the perfect pitch often backfires with dismissive bosses - they see it as lecturing, not listening. Instead, ask explorative questions that pique curiosity about root issues. Guide them towards realizations organically, rather than spelling out prescribed solutions. Co-creating the path forward breeds investment and buy-in that canned presentations lack.

Show enthusiasm, confidence, and passion for your ideas. Use body language to reinforce your message and build rapport with your boss. Maintain eye contact, smile, nod, gesture, and lean forward. Avoid crossing your arms, frowning, looking away, or slouching.
Getting your ideas across is not a one-way street. You also need to listen and engage with your boss. Show that you value his or her feedback, opinions, and questions. Acknowledge and address any concerns or objections your boss may have. Ask for clarification or confirmation if you are not sure what your boss means or wants. Thank your boss for listening and show appreciation for his or her support or guidance. Follow up with an email or a note summarizing your conversation and the next steps.
Through my 48 years on earth, I notice that many people who don’t listen, start to listen when they like and respect you. Instead of getting them to listen to me, I focus on my substance (skills, knowledge, attitude, reputation) and gradually I get respected and listened to. I also believe in the law of reciprocity, where you start to listen respectfully first, and gradually earn the right to be listened.
1. Best way to make people listen to you is, work on learning and upskilling. Experiment all the learnings. More the knowledge you hold, more the respect you earn and more will people eventually listen to you. 2. Play smart with your words. First find the time when your boss is free, start with the talk and engage him in the talk. And put your point of view/ ideas forward. Eventually a normal conversation would have turned into a idea sharing conversation and in turn also show your expertize and subject learning. So keep learning and keep growing.
