One must know the material hazard and control measures from MSDS or from supervisor before handling the hazardous material. Proper training on handling hazardous material should be provided to all who are handling.

In my experience, the SDS is one of the most important safety considerations. In terms of safety, the SDS is similar to your JHA (Job Hazard Analysis) which identifies your hazards and controls. For all controlled products, it is the Employer & Supervisor's responsibility to provide enough training and education to workers about WHMIS and to make the SDS readily available for workers to review. I work around molten Sulfur, it can work its way, any were there is solid sulfur. Due to this fact everyone is required to tape between their boots and coveralls, with hockey tape, to help prevent liquid sulfur getting into their boots should they break thru to some molten. It has happened to some people who forgot to do this and got burnt on their feet, always tape up. And as you are to expect a train any time any were on the tracks, expect molten sulfur anytime any were on the block.

At first, we should have proper PPE for handling of that particular Hazardous meterial.We should use suitable containers and packaging materials that are compatible with the material and prevent leakage or breakage. You should also segregate incompatible materials that may react with each other or cause fire or explosion.

Inform employees ,educate them about the potential hazards,many of them although they work with these chemicals for many years don't know anything or say I m used to that. Change their minds.dont make them work more hours with ppe that overpass their limit .educate educate make sure that schedules are kept. Rotate them

When working with hazmat, the step often left for last is the development and implementation of emergency preparedness with contingency plans. The actual hazard of a material will vary. While individually each material may be predictable to work with if handled according to the safety data sheet, planning on storage, handling and transport in the various scenarios such as spills, leaks, outages, fire, flood and other natural disasters or inclement weather will go far. In addition, storing multiple chemicals with compatibility can lead to situations like hazardous atmospheres, chemical exposures or decomposition. People see and act with what’s in front of them, but with hazmat they need to plan for the future & surrounding community.
