As a freelancer, it is important to understand that being freelance does not imply it is free from being ethically compliant with the organization standards. Firstly, it is important to understand the ethical issues that can arise in your role as a freelance volunteer in a particular organization. If for instance you volunteer as a freelance writer or editor for a Newsletter initiative in an organization. Be aware of copyright issues with use of images of people or stocks online. Importantly, be aware of other issues with use and release of sensitive information pertaining to the organization. When in doubt, always revert to the organization for guidance on what’s the best practice to follow as it applies in different circumstances.
