You want to make your animations more realistic. What tools can you use?

Being a traditional animator, I am never aiming for reality. I want to evoke the sensation of reality. With hand drawn animation that comes down to the effectiveness of your drawings and the emotion of the scene. A human is never fully still. We are always moving and blinking and thinking. But sometimes in a traditionally animated scene a stoic expression with minimal movement is more effective than making it “realistic”. It all Depends on what you want to achieve.

Making a hand-drawn animated film is extremely collaborative - there are so many moving parts. All working towards making everything work as a cohesive whole. For feedback I trust my instincts for what the animation (or shot in this case) is trying to achieve. I also have a few people whom I trust to ensure that what my particular shot in the film is trying to achieve. I would get lost in the little details and lose sight of the emotion behind the shot itself (I was animating a leather bag opening and was so focused on that bags drawings and physics that I forgot its not the most important aspect of the animation). That is when feedback helps in keeping you on track!

Für jene, die kleine Animationen in AfterEffects oder so bauen statt für die Spiele- und Filmindustrie, da empfehle ich Scripte. Anfangs klingt das noch unheimlich, vor allem wenn man keine Script Erfahrung hat. Es gibt aber genügend Tutorials und Webseiten, die sie auflisten und erkl?ren. Durch diese Scripte wirken bestimmte Bewegungen realistischer und mit viel weniger Arbeit. Einfach mal ausprobieren.
