This is the most crucial part. Rendering Motion Blur straight from the 3D Software takes WAY MORE time. Also, when you render Motion Blur you have no wiggle room to correct some things in post-production. Your only choice is to re-render, what takes more time and resources!

If you are an After Effects user I personally recommend the Iconic and Classic "RE: Vision Effects ReelSmart Motion Blur (RSMB)" plugin because the motion blur from AE is really hard to calculate and takes more resources. There is also a great Motion Blur plugin from RedGiant.

It sounds pretty obvious, but lowering your video's framerate reduces the number of frames upon which the motion blur will be applied. Experiment with reducing the framerate to maintain sufficiently smooth visuals, then add motion blur to the optimized output you achieve.
