If that isn’t feasible, approaching your co-workers with a sincere attempt to understand their function and challenges rather than trying to point fingers and inviting your coworkers to do the same with your team would be the best alternative. Seeking to understand before expecting to be understood is the foundation for establishing cross-functional trust.

Celebrating success is very important. Especially on those big contributions to the business agenda. Also and more important is to learn from the things that were considered failures or deviated from the expected course of action. If these two things are practiced within the context of cross functionality, chances are that both sides of the relationship will derive benefit from it.

If you are clear on stating the intent "I do not know this and want to learn" the approach of individuals change. They provide extra help and dumb it down. This is best way to learn across different functions and from the people who know their craft. It is easy on you as well - you can ask all naive questions and will not be judged.

Listening, Empathising, respecting , being authentic, Open to ideas, Following up, Close looping, No surprises, simple and effective communication, Asking for advice, offline coffee chats, better prepared with alternatives, adding that aaha moment, short term gain vs long term relationship are few key aspects for fostering stronger bond & collaboration!
