If you are leaning into an emerging topic like GenAI, I would focus on getting deep into the topic as a practitioner. Lastly, there is room for many thought leaders. Build community with your colleagues who are also looking to advance the industry or mission you’re interested in. All boats can rise.

My advice- your niche should be an area where your expertise and passion collide. Then, spend some time identifying the specifics of your topic. Is it related to an industry? Who are the people that care about your topic? Then, develop a point of view around your niche- a unique perspective you have about your area of expertise. Create thought-provoking content that talks to this audience. Challenge their thinking in your content.

From my experience, you can use thought-leadership to establish your personal brand (even better, Authority) in these 3 ways: 1. Short form content LinkedIn (or other relevant platform) posts are usually short form. Under 200 words and insightful. This helps you attract the right audience, and build a following. 2. Medium form content This is ideal for building deeper relationships with your audience. You'd write actionable content in the form of in-dept articles or newsletters. Best way is to get your social media audience on to your own blog/website. 3. Long form content Nothing gives you instant authority than your own Book! This long form content showcases your expertise, thought leadership and helps readers get a solid result.

Understand your niche and target audience. In the beginning, I wasn't specific enough. You want to identify their concerns, age group, gender, and more. This will help in how you delivery your message.
