You need to design mechanical assemblies. What software can help you do it right?

You can use try any CAD software package like Creo/ Solid Works etc. to create an assembly. Most Auto-sectors and Bio Med sectors use Creo for this application, as the user interface is very simple. Also, these sectors require the creation of large assemblies and Creo handles that very well. I have used both software packages. My personal favorite is Creo as the creation of both flexible and rigid constraints is much easier than other packages. You can control the motion/ speed and other parameters for visual and analysis purposes. Also, the interface between Creo and FEM/CFD package is robust, it reduces the duplication of creating assembly constraints when moving the assembly from Creo to FEA software.

I would go with Solidworks as it has a great UI, easy to learn for beginners, allowing you to take multiple parts and virtually assemble them, just as you would in real life, etc.

I have been using Nx software more than 15 years . It's so strong and user friendly software. It has many field to work and all of them is perfectly .

The most User friendly software i have ever used is Solidworks. There so no doubt that solidworks make it easier to build a assembly due to its UI. Also i would suggest a beginner if he/she wants to get into Design field. He/She must spend time on it. I have used creo and inventor but Solidworks is at another level.

I use SOLIDWORKS and Autocad. When modelling i use Soildworks because it fester and easy while i use autocad for 2D because for me it better for drafting when compared to Solidworks

There are many softwares in the market. Ones i used are Siemens NX, Siemens Solidedge, Solidworks, PTC Creo. All softwares have their own specialities, functions and features for assembly. So, it is very dependent on user to choose one software for assembly.

In my opinion one of the most important aspect of choosing any software is to look at it as a solution rather than a software. What I mean by that is, consider all the necessities of your requirements and look for a platform that will eventually solve all your requirements that you come across not just now, but also into the future. Check if the platform has a solution when you decide to upscale, whether its versatile, flexible and if the solutions provided will work for you rather than you working for it. Try to avoid having multiple software's which makes it difficult to translate between them and stick to a single platform that provides most of the solutions under one roof.

The study of joints is important to better represent the connection between mechanical parts. All CAD systems have an assembly module that bring different choices for mechanical joints, reading their documentation sometimes can clarify questions and introduce new concepts. If the device behaves like a mechanism, i.e., it is not fixed like a structure, a good way to start the study is to apply synthesis of mechanisms techniques (number, type) to find its level of mobility (a.k.a. degree of freedom). Some of those findings will be of great help when you go for a FEA (Finite Elements Analysis) later on.
