I have worked with Jira and Microsoft 360 Suite, a combination of both is really powerful to get your team aligned and informed about the progress and the functionalities to be develop. Atlassian Suite (Jira, Confluence, Bitbucket): Atlassian offers a suite of tools designed to support agile software development. Jira is used for agile planning, issue tracking, and managing user stories. Confluence is a collaboration tool for creating and sharing documentation. Bitbucket provides version control and collaboration features. Microsoft 365 Suite (Azure DevOps, Microsoft Teams): Microsoft 365 includes tools for project management, collaboration, and development. Azure DevOps offers features for version control, and CI/CD pipelines.

Collaboration tools are indeed the cornerstone for establishing effective communication within teams. GitLab is a collaboration tool that can be used by the Development and Operational team, to fulfilling DevOps needs. While the business side team can create user stories, epics, maintain scrum board with all the necessary details(Same as JIRA), the technical team can maintain their CI/CD pipeline for release management. It gives additional features of creating the isolated branch and merge requests that can be integrated with Sourcetree to maintain source code. It's easy to switch between dedicated branches avoiding merge conflicts. Convenient to pull, push, merge requests and maintain production and non-production environments.

There are many tools commonly used by tech product managers like me, to create user stories for my teams. During our PI Planning sessions, we all gather to tackle any blockers and answer any lingering questions. If something can't be resolved right then, we make sure to jot it down for follow-up. We craft user stories from the viewpoint of the user and break down acceptance criteria into manageable chunks. This approach not only keeps our documentation tidy but also ensures that everyone on the team has a clear understanding of what’s needed. It’s a solid approach that helps us keep everything running smoothly.

It is key to consider the size of your team and the location of your team, when choosing a tool. The goals should be to meet the agile mindset and to reduce the waste and documentation to the minimun within the progress of the project and product development. Once I joined a team, I noticed Jira was underutilized, leading to scattered communication through calls, WhatsApp, and emails. I conducted training sessions to highlight Jira's benefits, created a client template for submissions, and encouraged consistent platform use. This helped centralize project documentation, streamline communication, and enhance collaboration. As a result, our team experienced improved organization and efficiency.
