Should you even use an infographic for public speaking? Infographics have a lot of information on them. Do you want them to read or listen? If you put one on your screen they will just peer at it to read it, or copy it. If you hand it out any time before the end of your talk, they may well read it instead of listening.

I recommend to start with the question: Who is this for and how will they use it? The more clarity you have about your audience, their needs and preferences, the easier it will be for you later to filter through the information and make the design choices.

What I personally focus upon is to Include a variety of sources to present a well-rounded view. This could include academic research, expert opinions, and real-world examples. Diversifying sources adds depth and credibility to your content.

Keep the content concise and focused. Use short sentences, bullet points, and impactful quotes to convey key messages. Avoid clutter and unnecessary details.

I like to offer a comprehensive bibliography (resource list), which I organize with EndNote. This makes citing so simple and readily distributable should anyone ask for it.

After determining your infographic's topic and goal, gather supporting data from credible sources like online research, books, surveys, interviews, or personal experiences. Verify the accuracy and cite sources. Organize the information logically into categories for coherent flow.

Consider showing the conclusions of the data. Prepare the data and analytics tools to be available if someone wants to see it. If research based maybe show the sigma score. Avoid tables of data and equations that few if any will take the time to comprehend. One talk I saw gave only sequences of equations to prove their point. They never mentioned what they were trying to do. Conclusions mean nothing unless they can be replicated. Show how it’s done somewhere else.

Choose simple layouts, minimal fonts, and read friendly designs with high contrast relative to the font color. Present to the furthest row in the audience and it’ll always be readable!

You can select a template or layout, but you must improve it by giving it your personal brand for creating a visual line easy to create new materials and recognizable by your community.

If you don't have a history or training in graphic design, you're going to want to use a template. If an original design was so important, they would have hired a designer. What should be most important is that the design is engaging and readable.

Graphic design is critical. Use Canva for a quick and easy one that is pretty likely to be aesthetic. If you are so inclined and have the patience to learn it, try Photoshop or Illustrator to create a more custom graphic. As someone who designed the promotional graphics for clubs all throughout college and law school, I have plenty of more tips. But if you could have one takeaway: Don't put too many words on it – less is more!

Easy-to-read and brand-specific fonts enhance readability while helping with brand outreach. Font types that are widely adopted could be preferred. The right usage of font sizes and styles help emphasizing important points. And then fonts need to be consistent for a clean look.

I'd highly suggest doing a bit of research about color psychology and how different colors communicate different messages to people. There's actual science behind the art of color and its absolutely worth investing the time to learn about it.

While infographics visual aids can really level up your communication of technical content, remember to keep it simple so that the aid doesn’t become the thing. Any infographics, slides or props should help further engage your audience without taking away from your main message and connection with the audience.

When selecting images, graphics, and icons, make sure you have permission to use them. Especially photographs. Sites like Canva, Flikr, & Unsplash have very high quality photos and images. Images of people resonate more. Above all, images should be used to draw attention to your message and content, not to diminish or supplant it. Lastly, Some experts suggest using the 5/5/5 rule: no more than five words per line of text, five lines of text per slide, or five text-heavy slides in a row.

I suggest to reformulate "You can also ask for feedback" to "You should ask for feedback." Of course, your design will be clear to your own brain. Only through input from others (or by observing their reactions) you can verify the clarity and effectiveness of your design. Ask someone from your target audience for their perceptions.

Include a clear and compelling call-to-action to encourage engagement. This could be an invitation for comments, sharing the infographic, or attending a related event.

Simple doesn’t mean boring. Keep it simple and make sure it relates to your audience and their needs. They are there to learn more about an issue/topic but need the information in a simple, yet informative infographic. This also goes along with knowing your audience, the same infographic you’ll use for a 10th grade math class, won’t be the same exact infographic you use for a group of lawyers.

Tailor the content and language to suit their interests, knowledge level, and needs. *Storytelling Elements*: Infuse storytelling elements to make your infographic more engaging. Narratives, anecdotes, or case studies related to public speaking can capture attention and create a memorable impact.

It is also helpful to add engaging design element by using arrows and corresponding shapes to create visual interest. Moreover, make use of constract in order to highlight keypoint and maintain a balanced layout. I also make use of a consistent style to ensure a cohesive and professional look.

To truly captivate your audience, we need to ditch the data dump and embrace "masala visuals." Vibrant colors, Bold fonts, and Imagery that explodes with life. First, ditch the stock photos. Capture real people, local faces, Use icons that resonate – a bullock cart for perseverance, a kite soaring for ambition. And don't forget the story! Weave your data into a narrative, a journey with a hero (your audience) and a villain (their fear of public speaking). Use humor, quotes, even a dash of animation to keep them hooked. Remember, public speaking is a performance, and your infographic is the stage. Make it vibrant, alive, and truly "Indiawaala" – because stories told with masala stick like bees on honey!
