Choosing software for report its depending on the report type ;if tables and charts we can use MS Excel or Tableau .if text like recommendation or case it will be Ms Word. Always choosing software depends on what the purpose of the report . for example if you want to dig a small ground hole may be need man to excavate it by using shovel not need to loader as extreme or spoon :) .

Report is a message between sender and receiver. So the sender should consider the capabilities of the receiver. How he is preferring the data presentation. Some people prefer to read tables than histogram or pie chart than histogram . So I consider simplifying the report to be easy read by the decision maker " receiver " is essential for reporting .

Power BI: Power BI is a Microsoft Office suite of tools that includes a report creation and management tool. Databox: Databox is a cloud-based reporting tool that is designed to be easy to use. It is a good choice for businesses that need to create reports for marketing and sales teams. I believe personally these two tools are the best

ServiceNow is good for logistics and report generation. And if you're a small business you could use MS Access to generate reports in Excel if you need less than 10,000 rows. For bigger businesses, I recommend SQL which could be something like a MySQL server, Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio, or Microsoft Azure SQL Database.
