To have an effective DR strategy, you need to begin with a Business Impact Analysis which involves the stakeholders establishing the key services and the impacts. You need to establish with the stakeholders potential Business loss in time of outage defining the RPO & RTO. A well-defined DR strategy needs to have a thoroughly documented process that has the sign-off from both IT and business stakeholders. Planned and well communicated drill that tests the effectiveness of the DR strategy is key to ensuring continuity of the plan. Caution has to be taken not to forget the strategy in the midst of operational overheads whereby new services/systems gets missed to be updated in the DR strategy.

I strongly believe, aligning all stakeholders for a cohesive disaster recovery strategy begins with fostering a shared sense of purpose. We should start by involving everyone early in the process, ensuring all voices are heard and valued.Facilitate open discussions to understand each stakeholder’s priorities, concerns, and capabilities. This inclusivity strengthens trust and builds a collaborative environment.Break down complex plans into actionable, clear steps, ensuring that each stakeholder understands their role.Regular communication and transparency are essential to keeping everyone engaged and accountable.By embracing diversity of thought and encouraging collective problem-solving, we can create a robust, unified disaster recovery strategy.

In addition to these great points, I believe it's also crucial to integrate lessons learned from past incidents and industry trends into your DR strategy. Engaging stakeholders in post-incident reviews ensures plans are continuously refined and remain relevant. Collaboration across departments is also key to identifying hidden interdependencies that might affect recovery efforts. What do you think?
