You have to manage multiple projects in R&D. How do you ensure each one is on track?

R&D projects are strange with higher degree of uncertainty . It is an iterative activity… with more than one solution . Define an end date and commercialise . One can always improvise by revisiting at latter stage . Maybe after 6 months ( 50 batches) . By that time engineers will have learnt improved efficiency and share new economic idea.

R&D projects have unique characteristics, needs originality, complex scopes, diverse teams and different trl (technology readiness level) for each project so it is important to have a well-defined scope, which metrics will be evaluated and what results will be expected.

indeed, R&D is quite strange, as we are in a creative path Whatever be the logical strategy & project tools be laid out as per timelines, brief... it all serves as mere rigor. The true vigor is the CREATIVE CHAOS, sort of a beauty.. into an unexplored path of challenges & perseverance, only possible with depths of existing methods & processes . So, never a boring moment & monotony, for minds of passion & strength.. in search & realization of newness .. that aligns in the fruition. Even failure is a formative bud towards the end. & you know, each end of a project..is just a beginning too! But, later on you will become master of managing multiple projects as well. So, in my opinion the pharse "Practice makes the men perfect or expert" will be applied here also. Day by day sharpen your skills. After all one day, as an Head of R&D department, you have to manage multiple projects and deliver results.

Risk Assessment & Time bond activity Every projects have some time bond but with that always some risk also associated. So it's become very important to perform Risk Assessment & close time plan with calculative risk. It always help to helps to achieve projects without any surprise on time.
