In my opinion, it's not which one or which brand, it's the one you'll use regardless of the name. You can have the latest and the greatest but if it's too complicated or if it's not user friendly then it's likely that you will not use it properly. Your choice today is not a permanent. Choose one, any one, start using it. Use it for a year and then evaluate. If it's doing the job, continue. If it's not doing the job use, use another.

Get clear on what you want your CRM to do. Do you just want to house a Database of Client info and use other tools for follow-up and marketing? Or do you want a CRM that does that too? Once you know what you want, it's imperative to find one that fits your goals but evermore so, is easy for YOU to use. If You Can't or won't use it, then it's a waste and is not helping you. Easy to use is subjective and varies by your comfort level with tech. Bottom Line, find a CRM you can & WILL actually use and then incorporate that into your daily routine.

Once you have a consensus on what CRM’s are successfully being used - you need to try it for yourself & be as consistent as possible with it. Take it one step further, and you can assign a VA or dedicated agent to work the CRM for you. As someone who had multiple CRMs but never actually used them until I had access to the best CRM ever (the Compass platform, through my brokerage) I would say that the platform you select has to work for you. YOU need to see it in action to determine if it’s user friendly and fits your needs, or you will never use it. It’s worth taking the time to demo multiple platforms to see them in action before you commit, because once you actually select a platform, you’re stuck paying for it and working in it to organize your contacts. I found that I liked CRMs the best that were visual or color coded and helped me see where someone was at in the funnel of the process. I liked Boomtown the best but also have used Follow Up Boss.

In my experience, the best CRM is the one you will use. It’s not about the money you spend or the training you receive. It’s about the opportunities generated. Pick the one you will use.

Identify people who are organized and whom you respect in the industry, and see what CRM they use and how they use it. Eventually, you'll find someone doing what you want to be doing and get the CRM they are using to not reinvent the wheel. Sometimes your company pays for the CRM and has their own, and then it's just learning / borrowing best practices from those in your company, and that's even easier still. But this is something to see what someone is doing and replicate. Shopping for a CRM on your own is nuts to even try, in my opinion. You don't want to reinvent the wheel with a CRM.

You don't know which one is best for your needs or for your business until you try one for several months. That's the reality.

Don’t try to focus on ALL of the functions an application can perform, but instead focus mostly on your “must haves” and show a willingness to try different integrations as you gradually track your KPI’s and make tweaks to your systems. Most of the larger CRM companies have made it very easy to import your leads or database quickly while setting up a new account. Every single CRM is only as good as the functions you will consistently use, and it’s a waste of time to try and rebuild your whole Client Relationship Management toolkit when that time is better spent on income producing activities. A CRM program is an integral portion of your lead generation and follow up process. Gradual growth & efficiency should be the primary focus.
