Which security awareness training programs provide real-time feedback and progress tracking for learners?

Real time feedback instantly gives the learner an insight on what they need to work on, as well as what their strong traits are. In addition, it alerts the learner to problematic issues in their professional development that they can find avenues in which to correct the deficiency.

I am probably going to be shot down now, but I am not a great fan of computer based training. Group face to face in a classroom or a secure training area always. A lot of good students/ learners slip through the net by not bothering to apply or need face to face help and interaction to ensure understanding, this way learners can receive on the spot feedback in a positive manner, negative feedback often knocks their confidence, by giving positive feedback first, with a slant on asking the student how they felt it went and what they would do differently, letting them solve the problem rather than you helps them to achieve their goal.

At minimum quarterly training, both hands on and computer. As a Security Professional the willingness to learn, for we live in a ever changing world.

If the organization has an active training platform in place, this is a pivotal tool in a security operator's proficiency in his/her field. Progress Tracking will give them a standpoint of where their progression is, with respect to their next professional tier. Supervision should update these regularly and monitor and mentor personnel to help mitigate any prevailing issues that may hinder success.

Interactive Learning is an excellent training tool to motivate and inspire operators in the field. They can actually 'see' how what they have been learning applies to situations, and how to correct if there is a deviation from procedure. This is an excellent retention tool when applied in the proper context and use.

Within the security industry, there exists the need to tailor make a security solution for specific clients and organizations. Often times, client/organization-specific training needs to be administered to ensure that personnel are able to meet the client's need. It is this type of customizable approach that makes the security industry endearing and multifaceted. Specialized training content and the creation of customizable options, procedures, and protocols expand what the seasoned operator is able to provide the client.

Gamification elements, such as badges, leaderboards, and rewards can be a great way to foster friendly competition amongst the team, as well as strengthen their knowledge base in their respective fields of responsibility. All in all, the interactivity element of it makes it fun, and less of a chore.

In every profession continuous training and certification or CPD is the normal training situation. Bi systems are complex and if you look at how fast the technology is changing the only way to keep a competitive edge is constant training and reaccreditation.
