The equipment isn’t always a choice, however you can eliminate error in your traverse by doing multiple turns when setting points. -Set your backsight, turn to foresight. foresite. -Backsite the new point and close your angle to the original forsight. This method will give you the full 360 of the angle and essentially half the error of the theodolite. Another method is to add in a flop to the first angle. -Backsight angle to forsight, flop 180° foresight angle to backsight will also give you a 360°. However not all error is eliminated but can be distributed throughout the traverse, this is called Ballancing the traverse.
