In my experience, I motivate my team by handling them the responsibility to host daily scrum or retrospectives sometimes so that leadership is not something that’s meant for scrum master alone.By this way we are encouraging emergent leadership within the team ,which keeps them motivated in day to day work!

The whole concept of servant leadership came into practice with the words of Jesus who said - I come to serve not to be served. A few aspects that I have learnt along to way - Humility: the acceptance that every human being is unique and has skills that needs to be harnessed (took a bit of time because you are generally taught the opposite) - Empathy: not just the ability to empathise but support the person to overcome the challenge. This I learnt was not me solving the problem (which is what I did in the early years) but helping the person to solve it themselves. - Principles: clarity of what one stands for & more importantly- why. The team (and extended organisation) having visibility of that consistency of action in all circumstances
