What's the best way to pitch writing ideas to clients and publishers?

When I’m pitching I like to kick off with a personal connection; tell a story about why this subject or product matters to me. Audiences can be inspired by a presenters personal stakes and how they relate to the messaging. Have fun when you pitch.

Based on my experience, it’s crucial that you incorporate data that supports the perspective you’re sharing in your text. Researching the topic is as important as being able to articulate your thoughts effectively.

Why is now the time to write this piece? When can you complete it, or when did the even occur? Where did it originate or happen? And how did it come about? What's the origin story? Editors want to understand how you plan to approach your proposed topic and to be reassured that you have access to people who can bring the story alive, whether that's experts or everyday people with relevant experiences.

Highlight the Value Proposition: Explain why your idea is valuable. What problem does it solve? How does it meet their needs or goals? Emphasize the benefits.

In crafting a book proposal, it's essential to know the market. Authors must submit a list of similar titles and provide a summary of what those books are about; then, they must show how *their* book is different and demonstrate what it's adding to the conversation. How is this book adding value? Whom is it serving who has currently been overlooked? And perhaps most importantly, what is this author's platform like and how will they leverage it in book promotion? Publishing is a *business* and publishers need to see that they'll get a return on the investment they make in the author.

People buy VALUE in all terms. When you talk about clients, you can showcase your portfolio and strategy on how you will help them achieve their goals. But, when it comes to reaching out to the Publishers. Pitch the idea, storyline or summary. You must have a solid reason why it will work.

A way that really worked for me was to be updated on trends and news to show how urgent and relevant is the CTA based in big companies best practices, consumer stories and temperature in social media.
