What's the best way to involve others in your decision-making process?

The best way to involve others is to foster open communication, actively listen to their input, consider their perspectives, and collaborate to reach a consensus that takes everyone's ideas into account. Here are a few examples of how you can involve others in your decision-making process: Brainstorming Sessions: Organize brainstorming sessions where team members can freely share their ideas and suggestions. Feedback Gathering: Seek feedback from relevant stakeholders before making a decision. Regular Updates: Keep stakeholders informed about the decision-making process and its progress. The key is to create an inclusive environment where everyone feels comfortable sharing their ideas and opinions.

SMART Goals Help one to achieve something tangible and determine the direction of work. Goals can further breakdown into TARGETS & OBJECTIVES. We should assign short term goals to ourselves; daily basis, weekly basis, monthly basis. We must try to achieve them and then they will embed into LONG TERM Goals, gradually.

In my experience, seeking input from others on making decisions all begins with what and who the decision will impact. For example, a company decision on restructuring a department will only involve key people in senior management roles. On the other hand, involving key team members to help improve productivity/elevate goals is key to hear and learn other's perspectives and you never know what some team members may see that others don't. So it's all relative as to what the situation is and who should and should not be involved.

Decision Making is responsibility which we have to take everytime, we can't escape from it. Either we wish or not but have to face situations. So one should have to prepare ourself to take good and appropriate decision which can contribute for our progress as well as of for betterment of our country. I completely agree with the fact that not everyone needs to be or should be involved in every decision. Creating groups of team members and having criteria of what is appropriate as a team discussion will help with who should be involved in certain discussions. And then being transparent with everyone on why groups have been ascertained will help prevent gossip and people feeling left out. Open and honest conversations go a long way with employees if they feel involved and/or informed.

It's vitally important that you are well prepared for whichever method used. In my experience, listening actively to others is not always adhered to by the Manager hosting the meeting despite saying that "everyone has a voice". If it's an online survey and the responses are deemed "confidential", Managers should refrain from trying to "figure out" or "point fingers" as to who may have submitted responses. I have been in a couple of situations where I thought my responses were confidential only to have the Manager say in a team meeting "I think I may know which one of you may have said that". This runs the risk of lack of trust from team members who may be reluctant to complete another "confidential" survey!

Communicating the decision is KEY! And then the work begins as a team as to how it will be implemented and goals needing to be met. When positive outcomes are achieved, celebrating successes to everyone involved will create a positive working environment and individuals feeling appreciated and valued.

Being open and transparent with team members/employees has a huge impact on how successful the business/department will be. As Leaders/Managers, avoid gossiping or sharing confidential information at all costs! The negativity wreaks havoc within a team environment and breeds mistrust. Having managed multiple teams at a corporate environment as well as remote locations, being as open, honest and sometimes vulnerable has a positive impact on all involved.
