in addition of explained, the duty of a part and direction for its use is very important, e.g. stanlees steel have a good resistant against corrosion but when you need a part with a good tensile factor to have a good alongation expansion then it is not much suitable. aforsaid can extend for fatigue factor and againe place of using a part

Be careful how you combine materials on a boat. For example, if you use stainless steel fasteners on an Aluminium boat, it will cause severe corrosion of the Aluminium unless you apply a coating or some other means to prevent direct contact - it is definitely a situation that is better to avoid.

It's best for a material or coating that fits all the criteria above. But if you have limited options you shall prioritize your choices which is set for you. For example while designing, you may have to use a lighter material due to your weight budget which does not have enough biofouling properties. Or biofouling may be your last criteria for the material that is used in the inner parts or bridge.
