The best way to learn colour is to watch and analyse painting and graphics. The basics of painting technique in the use and combination of colours are similar to photography. Watch the impressionists and understand what their revolutionary decision was in the colour palette.

I do set designs in my studio. To help me design a set, I look at the current color trends because that is what is in the stores and colors people are wearing. Notice the pink theme? Look at decorations in the store. It's the same pink theme.

Learn the basics to get a good base knowledge, then start to look at mediums beyond your own (paintings and classic cinema are really great places to start), and then find someone or somewhere to talk about the ideas you're having! Sharing your interpretations and hearing other peoples is the fastest way to progress your learning.

It's not always the best solution. If you want to create truly unique styles, you have to look at what's hidden inside YOU. Not the experts. It will limit creativity or perfectionism. Write down a few things you really love, want, create, emotions, light and colors. Experiments transformed into experiences are the knowledge that no one will give you through inspiration.

I want to add another, in my point of view it's necessary to have experienced and add spice to your work by using color save you should know how to do it first, adding random color does mean you are creat some pics of art. Need to learn color wheel, color theory after that break the rolls cautiously.

I prefer B&W , love sepia tones,love to work in dark room on big size with chenicals. Colour correction in digital pictures are easy now a days before archival prints , linkedin has not provided colour picture upload , otherwise i would have uploaded practical pictures.

I have a bit of an odd perspective on color and color theory – especially as it applies to photography work – because I am severely colorblind. Yeah... I know... Colorblind photographer... That's weird. It actually is weird. But because my color vision is so limited (I'm only able to see blues and yellows with any sort of accuracy), I've developed a photographic style that caters specifically to my visual strengths. Most of the time – probably about 80% of the time – I shoot in black and white. When I do shoot in color – or, more accurately, when I process in color – I always place a strong emphasis on blue and yellow tones, because I can see them. Green and red kinda' exist in my world, though I often confuse one for the other.

Simplify…just shoot/paint…if it comes, embrace it…you are the essence…people say learn the rules then break them, but if you don’t spend time learning the rules it speeds things up…I found…??????

Please just do it! Make consistent creations. Experiences make you unique. Have visions of your outcome. Don’t compare and limit yourself because of what others say or if you want to make it technically “perfect”. You are already doing great. Your path is a part of your results.

I like to review my work and like when I go to a workshop for the photographer running the workshop to assist with editing and giving their perspective. I love when they do not overshadow their interests over mine and take that into consideration with the editing.

The photos we took and thought were great a few years ago doesn't feel that great now! Even the best photographers would've gone through this. My suggestion and what I am learning is that you can be happy about your clicks but always try to find one something in a photo that can be improved. Also, the people around us are much more valuable and amazing than we think. They can drop gems with their feedback.

Do light experiments! It is the most important part of any color atmosphere. Grab CDs, crystals, foil, lamps, glass, flash, shadows, put something IN FRONT of the lens, change the perspective, watch sunsets, moonlight, stars... let your creativity flow. You will see light and colors everywhere.

Take a few lessons in graphic drawing and painting. This is usually recommended for the ability to see the light. But the selection and combination of colours is the second main part of the work, which will help you in photography.

Abstract art cannot be explained in words. I am a self-taught abstract artist. Abstraction allows me to see with my mind what I cannot see physically with my eyes. Already mentioned in my previous comment. To demonstrate visual uploading of pictures is a must , going beyond words is very important , a famous quote , " a picture is worth 1000 words."

I do use nature and culture as context to advise my color choices. It also depends on the project and what the client wants to achieve.

I'm a lifelong artist, so I have learned the most by 'doing'. It takes making 1000's of images to discover how to make one's photographic captures pleasing. Ironically each individual's point of view is unique, so there is not 'one way' to do anything. I find mistakes are very valuable sometimes. Color theory is fine but limited to the vision of who's teaching it.
