What are the top photo printers for producing high-quality prints of your professional photos?

Since I have been exhibiting almost exclusively in Europe I use MioPixel Italia they are hands down the best lab I’ve ever used! Their work is not only gorgeous and sensational it’s also the most affordable lab I’ve ever worked with. In NYC I use Duggal though unfortunately I’m not impressed with either their quality and certainly not their prices as they are the most expensive lab in the City. I once gave them a huge order, 25 large scale Giclee prints and six of them were unusable! They promised to rectify the problems but they never did. I’ve heard Greenberg Editions in the City is very good. There’s also a few in New Jersey that do quality work. But my beloved lab in Italy is who I use exclusively and my gallery ships the work all over.

There are several printer types to keep in mind, depending on purpose, cost, durability, glossiness... 1.Silver halide paper (AgX original photo paper) exposed by a laser and developed with traditional chemical process. 2.Inkjet printing with dedicated paper and ink, printers can use sheets or paper roll. 3. Dye Sub thermal printing by transfering color layers to the paper 4.Toner printing using laser/LED to create ink layers on drums then transfer/fuse on a paper surface. Inkjet and dye sub could be easily owned as they are affordable machines, but AgX and toner machines are usually owned by printing businesses (higher production, wider printing formats). Fujifilm provides highest image quality on all of these printing technologies.

The Top photo printers for TOP Photo Prints are Printers that are not colour-blind. They have their eyes checked regularly. A TOP Photo Printer also needs patience & intuition to figure out what's in the photographer's mind! However, which machine makes the best Prints? Well, excellence and quality are subjective. So it would depend on the purpose of the print(s). I recently had an exhibition where I used Officeworks to print A0-sized BW prints on standard BOND paper and used that as wallpaper for the live performance. The images were of the artist in high-contrast light. The large format Black & White plan printer was the appropriate printer for that show. There is no good & bad, there is only appropriate & inappropriate.

Depending on final size output and volume I have both Canon and Epson. Canon image PROGRAF 1000-PRO is popular among professional photographers for its exceptional print quality.My experience is that the software can be confusing and cumbersome and that tends to use too much ink for maintenance tasks. While the Stylus Pro 3880 is no longer in production, it's still widely used and respected by many photographers for its outstanding print quality. However, you may also want to consider newer models like the Epson SureColor P800 or P900 for updated features and technology.

Large format inkjet printers can manage wide paper variety, and in case of flatbed printer types you can print on any paper or rigid surface with UV-curated inks. Be aware your images should be adapted before using different media, because some papers or printing methods affect contrast and and color depth. Do you know Fujifilm large format printing media? There is a variety of papers to achieve different levels of texture and glossiness, and of course the right ICC profiles to match your color management settings.

Com certeza tudo isso é muito importante, conhecer os vários tipos de papéis e marcas existentes no mercado. Eu particularmente gosto da Canson e Hahnemühle.

He probado imprimir en CDs, con las impresoras Canon. Han logrado un papel excepcional en la reproduccion del Color. Han mantenido la paleta de colores del dise?ador en todo momento.

Na hora de imprimir eu prefiro n?o ter pressa, gosto quando o meu impressor tem tempo de sobra para imprimir, se isso n?o for possível deixo para imprimir em outro momento.

There's a clear distinction to be made about what's a priority. If you print photos at events for a large number of guests, it is definitely worth paying attention to thermal dye-sublimation printers from DNP or Mitsubishi (although this brand, according to my data, has already stopped producing photo printers and there is a chance to be without consumables). For fine art, posters, interior high-end photo printing, wide-format inkjet printers from Epson are definitely good.

If you have time the inkjet technology could be your best option, in case you are producing your images. There are large format printers but also small but smart printers like Fujifilm DE100-XD with paper roll up to 21cm wide and able to print up to 1m long (panorama prints). Print time for 10x15cm print is around 11 seconds. There is also an option with dye sub technology, like Fujifilm ASK-400, capable to print 10x15cm print in 8.4 seconds, but not reaching same quality than inkjet. For higher production a spooler could be created by adding printers, but if you need highest production (printing business), it is better to consider Silver Halide digital minilab, able to print more than 2000 prints/hour (10x15cm), with original photo paper.

I agree and want to add that Calibrite is the leading colour management company and investing in their technology eases the process from camera to computer to print. The investment pays off when you get consistent results and can trust that what you see on your monitor matches the print. It takes time to master this and is an ongoing process so patience is needed!

Für mich ist das der wichtigste Faktor. Allerdings kostet das Kalbriertool meist extra. Nur dann gelingt ein perfekt abgestimmter Workflow. Ausserdem sollte die Gr??e der Tintenpatronen zum Output passen, sonst kann die Tinte zu alt werden oder es geht bei seltener Nutzung viel Tinte für die Druckkopfreinigung verloren. Dann ist es günstiger bei einem kalibrierten Dienstleister drucken zu lassen.

Além das limita??es que a impressora possa ter, é essencial ter em conta os princípios base na gest?o de cor e antecipar que as cores em RGB (ecr?) s?o substancialmente mais luminosas do que os pigmentos de impress?o. Testar e corrigir até obter um perfil de cor otimizado entre o ecr? e a impressora é um dos melhores caminhos para facilitar o processo de impress?o.

Calibrage, colorimétrie, et compatibilité sont essentiels pour une reproduction fidèle. Les conseils et indications des fabricants sont à suivre pour optimiser le processus.

Informa??es importantes, por isso sempre pesquiso sobre os equipamentos que meus impressores usam, se o equipamento é muito antigo, já procuro outro impressor.

Never ever use ink printers on events ??? Dye-sublimation printers require the most minimal maintenance and nothing during downtime. With classic inkjet printers it's the other way around, if you don't use it and forget to mothball it - after a while you can just throw it away.

I use vendors for my printing needs. Takes all the hassle out of calibrating, burning through paper until it comes out right etc. Most of my prints are metal, so printing it myself is out of the question. The trick is finding a printer that will work with you. My metal printer is a family owned and operated business. The owner took me on a personal tour of the facility when I inquired about using them as my vendor. I’ve been with the for over 10 years and have not had to have one reprinted. Magnachrome.com

It's less important to focus on which printer is considered the best quality and more crucial to think about the print quality you need for your work, based on the background and requirements of your project. Don't assume that using the highest quality printing will automatically make your project the best it can be.
