Other ML engineers, I see two other roles will be high in demand: 1. Data engineer - currently LinkedIn shows more than 8k role open. 2. AI Product Manager - currently LinkedIn shows more than 7K role open. Data and inference is new currency. And these roles will be more relevant than before on top of AI/ML developers and researchers.

But there are some things we can count on, specifically: the real in demand skills will be agility, investing time in continuous “getting your hands dirty” learning (note: this does not require a college degree), and staying deeply embedded within the AI community to sense the direction of change . . . as it changes. I believe two others will be Robotics AI Engineers and also Computer vision Engineers. As with many things, software comes first, then hardware… since hardware cycles take longer to come to market.
