There are many softwares that are used for project management - but none of them are effective without strong processes. Great project managers (in and out of sustainability) are masters of two: 1. Planning for chaos (e.g. building in iterations in project planning, monitoring to know when chaos found you) 2. Governance - clear objectives, communication, and feedback mechanisms. Software can help organize a wide variety of data, perform great analyses, and create great visualizations for communication. However, it isn't a pre-requisite for great project management.

2 Life cycle assessment

Life cycle assessment (LCA) is a method that evaluates the environmental impacts of a product, service, or system throughout its life cycle, from raw material extraction to disposal or recycling. It can help you identify the environmental hotspots, trade-offs, and improvement opportunities of your project. For example, you can use LCA to compare the carbon footprint, water consumption, or waste generation of different design options, materials, or technologies. Some examples of LCA software are SimaPro, GaBi, and OpenLCA.

LCA is only one of many tools that can help project managers understand the sustainability impacts of their actions. The right tool depends on the strategic objectives and needs of the project. Here's a few others to consider: -Environmental Impact Assessment -Geospatial analyses -Emission modeling -Real-time monitoring / IoT sensors -... and many more Each technology or approach has its own advantages and limitations. Some are better over time, value chains, a specific operation, or geographic area. By understanding the "why" behind your project, you can select the best technique to measure the impact you hope to have.
