I totally agree with the above. After 30+ years dealing with extremist and gangs, whenever you have the possibility of a high risk situation forming I firmly believe in having teams (wearing attire suited for the venue) in the crowd or event looking for bad actors and possible threats. These teams should be routinely changed out during the entirety of the event.

Just ensuring that all security personnel are SIA badged for purpose of legislative requirements unfortunately means nothing ... ensure you go for experience and quality and that means paying for quality and then practice, practice and practice some more for the venue, for the event and for the threats.

I believe it would be a benefit to the security of the event to add police officers. Some in uniform at the entrance points and others in plain clothes inside the event. It’s important to consider the type of event to determine the number of police. Certified security personnel at the entrance points in uniform and police to back them up. The security at the entrance points has to be modified so the entrance points are not blocked. Police officers can help in this situation. Cost has to be taken into consideration.

The Medical and second security staff should be a safe distance away from the event yet close enough to respond quickly. At an area large enough to triage a large number of injuries.

One thing I would add is to have people filming. Locating shot callers and general trouble makers these pictures and footage are essential for legalities that may arise later. This can be done overtly or covertly. Both have their value. The area to be covered should exceed past the venue and into the surrounding areas.

One thing I've found helpful is divide your area into overlapping zones. It allows security personnel to provide coverage to that assigned areas, but also allows security to provide assistance to officers in other areas. Maintaining radio contact enables officers to pass on information of suspicious, pending, or ongoing activity in one zone that would headed toward another zone and other officers can assist. This has helped me as a Safety and Security Director on a college campus.

Staff must understand the layout of the venue. know the area and how to access different areas.. be very familiar with routes. Everyone should know planned responses to various incident responses. Never cut costs of experienced staff, for untrained

We live in a digital world so security cameras will help to identify potential threats. It will also help to keep the cost of the operation to a manageable level. Again the type of event will dictate the amount of security needed.
