The best way to sort a conflict is by finding the source of the conflict. If you know the cause it becomes easy for you to find the solution.

Remember, sometimes external pressures can manifest as frustration directed at you.

In My experience, it is helpful to see the conflict from the needs perspective, not through your ego. Your ego can make you trigger the worst emotions, you may just want to win at all costs. But if you focus on what exactly you need, and are calm enough to ask questions and listen actively, you can find out what exactly the other person needs, and therefore solve the conflict with assertiveness. If you are both fighting for that orange, would you prefer to have only half of it? Or, maybe be honest and realize that you only need the juice, and you can give the other person the peel. How can you find out what the juice and the peel are in your conflict?

Acknowledge emotions: Validate your mentee's feelings without judgment. Let them know it's okay to feel frustrated or upset, but emphasize the importance of having a calm and productive conversation. Take a break if needed: If emotions are running high, suggest a short break to cool down and gather your thoughts. Sometimes, a fresh perspective can lead to a more constructive dialogue.

Brainstorm solutions: Encourage your mentee to participate in finding solutions. Work together to come up with different options and assess their feasibility. Be willing to compromise: Remember, you don't have to be right all the time. Be open to finding a middle ground that addresses both your concerns and your mentee's needs.

If there is a significant conflict, then you are not having a mentor/mentee relationship. What then? You and this mentee sit down and address the situation from that starting point. I'll assume it is not a mandate from a senior person that you will mentor this mentee or else! If it is, then your senior doesn't understand what mentoring is. And, in that case, gather understanding from the mentee. And if it doesn't resolve there, it's likely the mentee doesn't want to be mentored by you or doesn't want to be mentored at all. Absolutely not your job to talk amenity into being mentored.
