If working with a desktop unit, you may have 2 to 4 thumb screw retainers to remove before removing the side panel. Some systems may have a Proprietary lock button release. Some units may also have intrusion detection systems. Know this before working on the unit. Laptops and AIO's will be held with generally 6 to 18 screws in the case, and plastic tabs. I recommend using anti static tools. Place static sensitive components on grounded anti static mat after removal. I.e. RAM, SSD's, WiFi Cards, Graphics Cards, etc. "Once you've opened the case......"

Organize Cables (Optional): While reconnecting, take the opportunity to organize the cables for better airflow within your case. Use zip ties or velcro straps to keep them neatly bundled. Close the Case: Put the side panel(s) back on the case and secure them with the screws you removed earlier. Reconnect Power Cord: Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet and then into your computer's PSU.
