What are some ways to differentiate your thought leadership narrative in the tech industry?

Specializing in a specific area of technology allows you to become an expert voice. This could be emerging tech trends, a particular programming language, cybersecurity, AI, or any other field. The key is to focus on an area where you have both expertise and passion.

In the tech industry, differentiating your thought leadership can start with identifying a unique niche. For example, focusing on the application of AI in healthcare rather than AI in general. This approach allows for deeper insights and a more targeted audience, establishing the thought leader as an expert in a specific, yet significant, area of technology.

In the vast landscape of the tech industry, differentiation often begins with identifying a unique niche. Thought Leaders should focus on a specific area or a niche within technology where they can demonstrate deep expertise. In my case, I start the narratives speaking about processes in the industry or in reference to my past experiences in different industries with other job roles. With this focus we can have some brainstorming and highligths in some topics agnostic of IT solution, then we can prioritize the topics/findings/pain points/improvement opportunities to treat them in some order of urgency/importance. And at last I add the IT flavor, to try to do some recommendations about possibles IT functionalities to cover the business requeriments. Putting focus in the clasicc functionalities plus the more innovative functionalities, that we can have available on the market. Of course we can have more than one IT solution for the same business requirements.

For sure the story telling is very important, and of course as a leader we need to improve all the time about it. But in another hand we must show value in our stories, sometimes we can have some stories with some issues that we had in the past, and to show that we learned with that experience. In my point of view if we only show successful stories, maybe we show only one dimension of the stories that we can do the things in the right way . With more than one perspective of our experiences, we show resilience, learning, growing, empathy with others. At the end the most important "value" that we can show is that we do not give up, and we expect increase our value each day for our work.

As a great leader, my previous CEO issued the mantra "trust comes in drops and goes in buckets" which I recommend we all should live by. For solutions with some time in the market, of course that is the way, and we can show some previous real experiences with features, kpis, benefits, etc. But for a new solutions or innovative solutions, we can not show nothing specific about it. So, we need to give evidence that we can take this type of challenges, and speaking about our past experiences with innovation. To try to show that we have this in our DNA, and mention reference of innovations made by own in other clients, that they can confirm our innovation focus.

In all the projects that I start, the first thing that I mention is that I need the innovation and the new/fresh ideas to solution the business requeriments in a new way. The tech industry changes faster and more faster day by day, so the only way to mark a diference, it is investigate all the time new forms to do the things. By the way, also the business orientation is changing all the time, so this is the other factor to increase the innovation. The difference to grow, it is not stay in the comfort zone, it means that we need to change our perspectives and our solutions faster on time.

Consistency also can carry some mistakes in our tasks, and it does not mean that we are not consistent, it is that we need to learn on the road. Authenticy always is the way, free that some people try to convince you to take the simple via. Humor sense for me it is one of the most powerful tools of the world, because it puts the people in the other shoes. Respectful does not mean that we need to stay in silence, if we think that is not the rigth way or the better idea. To be "a humble person" is not enough, we need to be a better person day by day, and we do not loss our humility in the road.
