I believe Sound is the soul of Motion Design, it elevates your work to new heights, instanly setting it apart. Motion paints the scene, sound sets the rhythm & pace. Great sound design happens even before the actual process. Build a habbit of vocalizing sounds during animation, helps with pacing . Your vocal "Swooshhh", "phowww", "flickkkkk", "zappp", "swappoopp" are excellent references. All you have to do later is to find or better yet record your own matching sounds. Master a basic sound program. Adobe Audition is a good start if you already subscribe to Adobe. Basic knowledge of Dynamics, Compression, and processing goes far. Audacity, a great free tool, is another great choice which I have been using personally for a long time now.
