For example, “What would you do if you were in this situation?”

It’s important to reevaluate often to be sure we are on the right track. Reevaluating often ensures we can meet our goals efficiently and effectively. One thing I do to evaluate myself is journaling. I will write down the events of my day and go through what went right and what went wrong.

Critical thinking is like any other skill - it takes practice and upkeep. Reading books, working on puzzles and working with others helps in keeping up critical thinking. It’s just like learning in that it should be a lifetime pursuit.

Reverse the roles. Put yourself in their shoes and think about it wholly from the prospects/customers perspective. What questions would you ask, how would you react, how many vendor calls have you had, etc... This can be difficult to do and you may catch yourself with your own demo script or sales pitch. If you can break away from that, it's a very powerful exercise!
